But how do you actually put this into practice?
Here's the loop I use with clients …
Step 1: Increase spend deliberately.
Not emotionally. Not because you're excited about a "winner." Pick a number ... 15-25% increase ... and commit to holding it for 5-7 days.
Step 2: Observe where friction shows up.
Don't react to daily wiggles. Watch for patterns. Where does the system tighten first? CTR dropping? Conversion softening? Refunds creeping up?
Step 3: Identify the constraint.
Based on where friction appeared, ask: "What upstream assumption would have to be wrong for this to happen?"
If CTR drops, the message probably isn't landing with broader audiences.
If conversion drops, the offer might be creating hesitation.
If refunds spike, expectations aren't being set correctly.
Step 4: Fix the constraint.
Make the smallest possible change to address the real issue. Don't rebuild everything.
Step 5: Run the loop again.
Increase spend. Observe. Identify. Fix. Repeat.
That's it.
It's not sexy. It's not a hack. But it's how you build a system that holds under pressure.
